MADE to ORDER: please allow 4 WEEKS production time
Each piece is thrown on the wheel then painted with a stained clay along its base and underside. That color is left unglazed with a matte texture and will have both brushstrokes and variation. After the first firing the lettering is stamped and the design painted, then glazed over with a creamy clear. As each part of this process is done by hand, size, handle and design will vary - no two are the same!
I have 100+ designs available, the listing photos show a small sample. If there are any photos you'd like to see, send me a message! If you are interested in a new design (a city not listed in the dropdown) please message me before purchase to discuss.

CARE & USE
These utensil holders are unglazed on their lower portion which means the surface is porous and can absorb cooking oils and other stains. To help seal and protect that matte surface against staining, your pottery will be oiled prior to shipment - as you might treat the wooden cutting boards and utensils in your kitchen.
If and when you feel it’s time to retreat your pottery, apply mineral oil* with your hand or a paper towel and leave upside down overnight. If you have porous counter tops, such as concrete or butcher block, I would skip oiling the bottom of a utensil holder. Wipe with a clean cloth or paper towel in the morning and you should be good to go! Repeat as needed.
*clear, food safe mineral oil is inexpensive and widely available. There are organic mineral oils available online. Linseed oil is another option, commonly used for treating wood surfaces. Do not use olive or vegetable oil as they can go rancid over time.

Frequently Asked Questions
Custom and personalized orders
I'm taking custom order work on a very limited basis. Get in touch with your request and I'll let you know what I can do.
These pieces are handmade and the clay shrinks 12-15% so there is variation, but you'll find size approximations in each listing. I do not offer custom sizing.
No wholesale at this time.
I source as much recycled packing material as possible, with peanuts, bubble wrap and paper from several local small businesses. I buy all of my boxes new, from a nearby manufacturer.
